Flow for SPS

How much flow is needed for keeping SPS and how to identify whats enough?

This is a loaded question as there are a ton of variables. While this thread is a bit older, it talks about concepts still relevant today. It should get you started at any rate.

Start with about 70-75 times turn over per hour. That is a good starting point IMO. For a 280g I would look into some MP60s.

And make sure the flow is random too, not laminar.

from what i understand, there is no such thing as too much flow AS LONG as it does not directly point at the corals

He has a point some corals love flow like millies other not so much the larger the coloy the more flow you are going to need. Some times the flow can be so much that it will rip the skin right off:worried2:
