im not happy with the current flow in my tank. Currently i have 1 FX5 550GPH, 1300GPH return from my sump and
two Koralia 4 1400GPH. Total = 4650GPH depris still collects in the rocks and sand i would like to increase the flow.

Should I get 2 more Koralia 4s. Or should i remove the 4s already in the tank and replace them with koralia 8's. In both of these senerios the flow would be the same. New Total = 7400GPH

Which would you choose and why?

Thanks

I thought the same like you, replaced bout 5 koralias for 2 mp40s in my 120g and believe me it hurt my wallet, I've been super happy with my tank ever since. I now invest in my reef tank. For a 300 dd ( which is my dream tank by the way) , and if I didn't already have the two mp40s, I would probably invest in two mp60s and forget about water movement, wait for a " save 10%" coupon and spend bout $1350 ( save$150) money well invested, congratulations on having one of the most drooled on tanks in our hobby.

If this is a fish only setup, I would go with the 8's, if a reef then you will need a lot more flow. You can always add more of the 8's if you want or take at look at the Sicce ones. For the money, it is hard to beat the Koralias.

I have a 125 with two closed loops and also 5 powerheads for flow. one closed loop(at each end in all cornes is supplied by a 3200GPH pump and the other closed loops has 3 risers in front, two in the rocks and one in the back supplied by a 1000gph quiet one pump. i also have 2 950 GPH powerheads at the top of each ens make surface ripple and then 3 koralia 1's, one at the end by the loop supplu pointing at the back and down( on left of tank), one on my overflow box pointing down( on right of tank), and one at the bottom at the end(right side) I have a mag 7 return pump...so total flow is approx. 8000 GPH total and i still have dead spots in certain spots in the rocks. Although i have that much flow my tank still doesn't blow things around due to plumbing of loops cutting back flow rate!

yes its a FOWLR. MP60's would probly blast the sand right out of my tank. I have extemly fine sand. Its the stuff from marco rocks.

Most people probably didn't notice the fish in your avatar and assumed it would be a full blown sps reef. I wouldn't hesitate to do the Magnum 8's or the Sicce Voyagers to move water and keep uneaten food suspended longer.
