Flow in a plant tank

Hey guys -

I'm going through an upgrade from a 40B DT / 15 fuge / 29 sump (total ~65 gallons) to a 75 DT and am making my current 40B my new 'fuge. I've been thinking about the layout for a while now and am thinking I'll set it up as a peninsula with the rock piled against the back wall for open sand space with 1-2 small powerheads blowing lengthwise toward the rock.

Then I thought about it harder, and realize I have no idea how much flow macro tanks need. This will be linked to my main DT via an individual return pump from my sump so I don't expect detritus from the DT to make its way to the fuge. That said, I also don't want to blow sand around (I would like to go fine if possible). For a 40B, running lengthwise, I was leaning toward something similar to a pair of MJ600s for a gentle, continuous current.

Thoughts? Critiques? Suggestions? I'm pretty new to the macro thing so my ears are open.

Thanks
NJG

That sounds good. You don't need a ton of flow for most macros. You may want to start out with less, and increase flow as they get established.
