Flow Problem

Have my Mag12 for the return and 2- Tunze 6000's

I'm still having too many dead spots. Any thoughts? I was thinking about going to 3- 6080's. I don't use them on a controller. As mark said, if I use the controller, I'll eliminate some of the dead spots but I still don't think it will be enough to cover all the spots.

I've tried them in quite a few positions but now I think I'm just making the corals mad.

Any thoughts?

Problem is I'm getting too many. It's not just a couple. I'm getting some detritus also but I think I'm going through NTS.

In the back of the tank is the worst of lacking flow

how will turning them on and off take away the dead spots? or does it change the intensity as well?

anyways, is your tank a regular rectangle or is it oddly shaped?

Standard 120. However, with the 2 overflows you have to get on the left side the middle and the right side while having those things block them. I wish they had corner overflows.

Setting them on a controller will change the flow pattern constantly in turn getting flow to areas that don't normally when you "set and forget" it.

just like ron popeil and the chicken

I see what your'e saying about the controller, if only one is running then it can get to different areas that it couldnt access with the opposing pump on...I gotcha

how do you have the mag12 split for the return?

Well, I really don't understand why the megaflows sit on the outside of the overflow so it's true pain. It's split into a "y" locline on each return. I could go up to the 18 or 24 but I hate messing with the size of the outlet on those.

so its split into dual Y's so 4 outlets total?

damn I guess Im out of suggestions if you already have it split into 4

Well it's rather costly but a closed loop would cure the issue. Or try as Mark suggested. You don't always need the big boy powerheads, sometimes just something like a Maxi-jet 600 is enough if used on the controller will do it. Hope you can fix the problem.

One of the reasons I'm not leaning to the multicontroller is the cost. Even if I found a killer deal, it's still expensive.

However, I could find a 6080 for about $100-110 shipped. Even if that didn't solve it, I could sell it without losing money

Neptune has a tunze controller that will be available, maybe even now. It's supposed to be shipping before the macna.
