Flow Problems

I have a standard 120 (AGA) with dual overflows. Anyways, I have a Mag12 for return and 2- 6000's

I've tried quite a few different options and none have worked that well. I have too many dead spots especially towards the back. I thought about going to 3-6080's instead as I don't use a controller anyway. It might help a bit to add a controller but don't think it's going to solve it.

Also, is there a recommended distance from the top of the water the tunze should be placed? Or is it based on the sand level?

Generally you want them about 4-6" from the top. This should give good surface movement. You could always upgrade the 6000's to 6100's or had a 6060. I would try the controller, see if some randomness won't correct the problem.
