Flow Question- One Tunze or Two Seios

I am wanting to increase my flow but I have a couple questions...Currently I have my mag7 for my 2 returns and a Seio 1100...Problem is, I'm still getting some dead spots on my 72g...I was thinking about getting another seio 1100 and putting it on the opposite side but would I be better off using just ONE of the Tunze 6060 or 6080...I would rather have only one in my tank but I'm not sure if just one would do it along with my returns...I'm a little afraid that is might be too much flow in the mainstream part since I can't adjust it like the seios and I normally bounce it off the glass, would this be able to do so since it doesn't rotate? ( I just the Sure-Grip magnet holder)
What do you think?

i'd go with a johnson 85 or a evenrude 115 outboard. maybe one of the new honda or yamaha 4 cycles if your looking to be enviromentally friendly. just keep in mind the 4 cycles dont have the quick response time like the 2 cycles.

The Evenrude has a better fuel and air mixing system, go with that.

Anyways, I'd get the two SEIOs, they'll be in the corners so they won't be TOO noticeable in a large tank. Plus you'd get flow in more parts of the tank than if you were to use a tunze. IMO

Good point...I just bought 2

If you go with a SIEO then go with the Big one 2600.. Lot more flow than the 1100..

But if you have the dough then go with a Tunze..

but is the tunze the better choice and if so why....it shouldnt be bought just cause he has the dough

I like how compact the tunze's are on the suregrip and I'd prefer to only have one in there but if I have to I can go with 2...

IMO SEIO's do not compare to what the Tunze can do, but I would go with the 6000 and then put it on a controller, you can use it again for a future bigger tank.

Would I be able to eliminate all the dead spots with ONE tunze and my 2 returns??? That is the only reason I'm thinking of doing 2 seios...

I would prefer to just do 1 tunze but I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to eliminate all dead spots

I agree with Mark. You cant get rid a dead spots with power heads you would have to do a closed loop for that.

a tunze and sand dont mix well

the 6060 is a good pump (a 6060 is serious flow )

low wattage pump believe 20watts


might want to look at the 6000 pump sounds expensive but you can crank the flow from 30-100 % and pulse the flow with the controller

I know the 6000 says it has speed control...Is that only with the controller or can you do it manually...I can't afford both right now.

I'm just worried about drastically changing my flow...I'm afraid I'll have to rearrange everything

Is 1600/gph going to be too much on a 72 with the 6060

there is a way to turn down the flow on the driver of the pump

a small screw driver will reduce the flow

The tunzes don't swivel like the seios though, right? Because my seio right now I actually have on a magnet on the back side but is angled off the front towards the opposite end...I can't do that with the tunze, correct?

with tunze you can turn is 30 degree from side to side(no up or down )
