Flow rate study needed.

I was watching my sump the other day and thought I have never seen any one post on what type of flow rate you get from a certain length of bubble traps. Basically spacing them at 1" intervals, it depends on how wide they are, but it would be helpful to know what type of flow is possible for a specific width of trap. Usually most are made from 3 pane's of glass and are spaced at 1"apart.

This info would give newbies an idea of how much flow a sump will take based on how wide the tank is.

I also think a lot depends on how much air (bubbles) are introduced into the system either via skimmer or turbulence in the drain/plumbing. A hard fast formula might be hard to attain but a good baseline should be achievable.

It would be interesting to see what someone could come up with.

Have you posted in the Equipment or DIY forums?
