Flow to and from Sump

I thought if you have a 2 inch pipe from the overflow to the sump, you should also have a two inch pipe from sump to tank? Then I saw a fluid dynamics video on youtube that said, if I understood correctly, your tank to sump pipe should be larger than your sump to tank pipe. Is this right?

Before I just figured the rates should match otherwise the water level in the sump will eventually overflow or empty, or is a new lower/higher equilibrium established. I'm so bad w all this fluid dynamics stuff!

You thought wrong :p

Do you only have a single drain (tank to sump)? Is it always submerged (full siphon)?

The overflow plumbing from your tank to sump should be able to handle more flow than you are pumping into your tank.
Cheers! Mark

+1 Yup. I have 3/4 inch sump to tank and 2 1.0 combining to 1 1.5 tank to sump.
