Flow too strong

Yes, its me again Roger.

I plugged in the stream 6000 and it is blowing sand all over the place. I placed it on the back glass in the back right corner and angled it a little. The instructions say to turn the little screw on the driver box but there is not a screw driver included. It is so tiny that I don't have a screw driver small enough. I used the blunted end of a knife but that didn't work too well.

What suggestions do you have?

Cindy

Try aiming them up at the surface of the water, which I can see you have done........lol.

I have a south down sandbed with 2 6000's that I have no trouble with the sand being blown around. It was moved around a bit at first but it settled down in a few days.

If you need to adjust the flow manually if you will you should go out and get a kit to repair glasses it has a little screw driver in it that is just the right size to turn the screw in the driver. I turned mine down to 30% then slowly raised them to the 100% settings over a week or so.

Thanks Brewboy, I was hoping I had one of those around here but there's no telling where it is. I'll go out tomorrow and get another one.

So you gradually increased yours after the sand had settled down? Is yours up to 100 percent now?

I moved the pump up closer toward the surface but I am not able to point it up toward the surface any. I am using the magnet mounts and you can only rotate it left or right about 30 degrees.

Thanks for your response and advice!

Happy to help.

Yes I have mine pulsing between 30% and 100% with crystal clear water. I like to think the sand just needs to find its happy place........lol.

Good morning Brewboy!

I'm going to the drug store this morning and see if they have an eyeglass kit so I can adjust the driver.

I have one pump mounted on the back glass on the right side. I've slid it over as far to the right corner as I can using the magnet mount.

I have one overflow on my 120 and it is in the back left. I guess I'll be mounting the other pump on the left side glass. I think I'd like to get the rock decor to hide the pumps.

Where all did you put your drivers and the round transformer? THat surely is a lot of stuff for one pump. I thought it would be just the pump and all you'd have to do is plug it in. I really don't understand the reasoning for the separate driver and transformer.

I like the quote that you use at the bottom. Since I bought an existing set up I didn't dream I'd be spending all of this money. I've actually been putting some of this stuff on a different credit card so that my husband doesn't see the $$ amount or what I am buying othrewise I'm afraid he would be ****ed. :eek2:

Yes, just try a small screwdriver. You can dramatically reduce the flow and when you have thecontroller I would only run one at a time and alternate them.

We seperate all the components to keep most of the sources of heat out of the aquarium as well as to minimize repair costs down the road. It is much cheaper to just replace a motor or driver than it would be if we had put them all in one sealed piece.

I am lucky enough to have a fish closet were my drivers and controlers are located. I do keep my top off resiouvor in there too but is on the other side of the closet from the electronics.

Careful with that I just had to take out a consolidation loan to get rid of my credit cards. Partially reef induced and racing bicycles induced. I still spend alot on my reef but its better to just be up front with the spouse. They will find out anyways.

I hear you on being up front. That is better in the long run. Since this last buy maybe I won't need to buy anything else for awhile.

I went to Eckerds awhile ago and bought a little bitty set of screw drivers , like you would use on your glasses. I'm fixing to give it a try right now.
