Whilst I'm in the mood for asking questions, there has been something on my mind for the past couple weeks.
Coming from a FW background, I have a little experience in the use of FB Filters, and know them to be a rather effective means of biological filtration. However, I don't seem to notice the practice being used alot, or at all, in the SW world. I do see SSB, DSB and RDSB used, but would an FBF not offer similar properties to either of these, whilst having the added benifit of compact dimensions? Would an FBF be an option for a nano reef, rather than a sump/DSB set up?
Or are they, in fact, not much more than nitrate factories, and therefore entirely unsuitable for SW use?
