flukes

how fast do they spread got a new mystery wrasse a few weeks ago first week was fine then eyes went cloudy thought it was some bacteria infection so treated eyes cleared up for a few days but i did a dumb move and didn't see any signs of ick so when the eyes cleared i acclimated him to my DT yesterday well when i got home today eyes were going cloudy again and skin looked funny so after a nightmare of getting him out looked up what it could be and it lead me to think it was flukes so i fresh water dipped him and sure enough little clear things started falling off of him and i mean a crap ton. So now i'm worried i messed up my DT and infected it with flukes. Will get the prazi to treat my mystery but what should i do with my DT wait it out and see if it spread or treat everything also its a reef tank.:headwalls:

First do you have access to a microscope? If so this will help to identify the life cycle. If not no worries. Go at least 2 rounds of Prazi. Some have treated their reef tank with Prazi and have had great results with very little damage to their main. I can not speak to that since I have never done it.
The lifecycle of flukes without a host is approx 16 days. This is dependent upon water temperature, fluke species and a few other things. I have left my main fallow for a month and reintroduced fish with no problems.
Be sure to put garlic in the wrasses food. Recent aquaculture studies have shown it does detour a fluke from finding a host.

Thank you for your input Newsmyrna80 will do two treatments of prazi and feed with garlic now should i do that to all the fish or just the wrasse and keep an eye on the rest to see if they were infected sorry this is my first time ever dealing with flukes.

I would treat all the fish with Prazi. They may not be showing symptoms now but they were exposed to flukes. Plus Prazi is very easy on fish so it won't hurt to treat all. However when treating the wrasse be sure not to overdose him. IME wrasses don't handle higher than normal doses. Also be sure to have aeration, air stone, power head pointed at water surface, etc. Prazi reduces oxygen.
I would go 3 treatments. If you have an oviparous species you will need to treat to catch the new larvae. Eggs are impervious to treatment. Flukes eggs, in general, will hatch in 4 days at 78 degrees.

So a little confused with the prazi treatment so I have a 29 gal quarantine and dosed the tsp and a half on the tank now do I do that everyday or every 5 to 7 days

Fish list
Powder blue tang
Vlamingii tang
Yellow eye bristle tooth tang
Purple tang
Two clowns
Sunburst Anthias
Bangii Cardinal fish
Watchman goby
Blackcap basslet
Mandarin dragonet
Can they all get treated cause with cupramine don't think the dragonet can use it just wondering if prazi is the same way and thx again for the help

Every 5-7 days (I prefer 5), with a water change between treatments.

im so ****ed and fill defeated second go round on the treatment and my mystery was doing great actually the first day i started. To now finding him stuck to the power head in which i get him off but to late I'm so ****ed if i could curse on here i would this hobby can test you

I feel your pain. After 2 months of fighting flukes my Solarensis was in the clear. I left him in the QT for observation and he jumped out...and there was a lid on the QT!
