Flukes?

Does anybody have any pics of their fish w/ flukes?? I'm not sure what my tanks infestation is. Has anybody ever added Prazipro direct to their system?? It states it only kills worms. Are snails, shrimp, cukes, starfish, crabs at risk??

It's extremely difficult to see flukes on fish. Sometimes they show up as cloudiness in the eyes. The biggest giveaway is body twitching.

I have used it in a FOWLR sytem that has a breeding colony of mysis shrimp.. with no ill effects.. fish in the system include tangs, large angels, drawf/pygmy angels, gsm clownfish, lunnar wrasse, columbian sarks (brackish catfish), a scatt and a moorish idol and the lone blue/green chromis

There isn't any twitching and their still eating and acting normal. I really notice it on their pectoral fins & the tails. The fins that are clear. I did notice a few spots on some of the scales but it has since disappeared. I've been treating with ick attack for 5 days now. I read this stuff is just "snake oil" but I've used it in the past with excellent success. If this doesn't work I may need to use the prazipro. I'm really worried about the cleaner shrimp & the linkia. Has anybody else had any experience with dosing prazipro in their display??

Flukes don't show up as spots. Do a FW dip. Flukes and velvet will fall off, ich won't. Ick attack is basically worthless. Same result as leaving tank alone. Fish can develop "immunity" to ich or velvet which is why there are so many "Reef Safe" ich med claims.

First to answer your question--yes, I've used Prazipro in the DT with Lg Cleaner and Blood Shrimps (3 of each) and plenty of cukes, hermits, snails, brittle stars and urchins without any ill effect. Sometimes my angels and butterflies react with heavy breathing after 4 days but not every time and other folks don't have the breathing issues.

I used to dose Chem-marin Stop Parasite and swear by it till this summer where ich hit hard and fast. I wished I didn't waste the 8 valuable days and went straight with Cupramine.

A fast way to check for flukes I dip fish in FW for 4 minutes and if the fish has flukes it will fall of.

When doing FW dips, you can use baking soda to raise PH.

FW dips can be used to diagnose the disease and provide some immediate relief for the fish. Although most of the parasites die/falloff, I've found that the dips don't kill all of the parasites.

How long do you dip for? I only have the heart to dip for 4 minutes to check if there's anything coming off. My lfs said it takes 6 minutes to be effective.
