ok so I did my monthly water change today and for some reasonewhen I turned the pump back on the overflo is flushing now...it is making me nuts...so someone who knows something about this subject tell me what to do ....do I raise my durso? lower my durso??? The tank has always had noise but this is exta super duper annoying...and by the way it is not constant....it does it for like 30 minutes and then stops for a while and starts back ...could that mean I have pump problems???? Raising the durso is tricky since I have to pull it out to work with it and I can't see to put it back ......

Marty no it did not change ..that is the puzzling part...it just started doing it when I turned the pump back on ...
Scott...there is always one in every crowd and tonight you are it...lol,
since no one has offered any real advise, I will just play with it tomorrow when my mom gets here so she can guide me with placement when I put the standpipe back in place...but that will not help me figure out if I have a pump problem that could be about to rock my world...I did disconnect my plumbing and look at the pump to make sure I had no trash blocking flow and it was clear.

you can take a piece of airline tubing and stick it down the overflow. just put it in and move it in and out until the gurggle stops. you just need to burp the air off.

If I add water to fast ( like pouring from a bucket) it makes a wave surge effect and the water is not moving evenly from the sump to the upper tank it will make the flushing sound. I cut my return pump off and let the water all settle than cut it back on and the water flows evenly again and the flush is gone.

Marty... you're feeling like a ... knob??? Does that mean now you have a handle on it?

I "dare say" so!

sorry everyone

LOL! Ask dzones.... He's yupper, or a Canuck, or someplace up North. He’ll explain.

"Knob" is short for either Canadian or British slang for “Knob head”, a stupid, irritating person. It means other things in other circles too, but I won't go there.

In any event, Yes, to answer your question: I now have a handle on the situation. Thanks for your concern.

Check the vent hole in the cap. It may have gotten clogged by slat creep, it happens to mine every now & then (man I hate that) If so it was just a twist of fate it happened during a water change.

By the way hello again everyone, I have been away for a while.

I was wondering about you. Missed you and your family at the christmas meeting party.

My Son and I got into Cub Scouts and for the last few months everytime there has been a camping trip; that is when the Club was meeting. Hopefully we will be showing up again to the meetings.
