Fluval Edge 12 Gal Lighting Upgrade

Hi all!

I'm wanting to upgrade my Fluval edge light soon as I plan to convert my freshwater edge into a nano reef, however I am not sure about which light I should go for. I want a light which will allow me to grow some corals.

I've been told that the standard 42-Led light supplied with the tank will not be enough to allow any coral to grow, is that correct?

What are the ideal specs of a light? How do I attach the light to the aquarium?7

Thanks in advance, and sorry for so many questions!

I am seeking to do the same thing. The light that comes with the tanks are white LEDs. Would be nice if we could find an add-on actinic strip. I think I found one on Amazon for like $25 that I can velcro.

I'd recommend fluval halo led - I'm using the same thing grows coral really good and have different settings - only downside it's not automatic but you can overcome it by using timers

The light that comes with the tanks has both white and blue LED's, not just white ones. Apparently the spectrum is 7600K but i'm not sure if this is a good or bad spectrum? (i'm a complete noob as you can tell).

I'll definitely look that light up! Thanks for the suggestion!
