I never did a build thread.. hehe I always figured who would want to read about a measly 90 gallon reef,

I'm!!!!!! share it! share it! share it! share it! all experiences are highly valuable!!! what about you cycle phase? w/ fish or fishless? shirmp???

lol I'm already saving and planning for a 98" x 28" x 28" 330 gallon tank though. Main focus will be on sps and my sohol tang I've wanted for years.
oh man! that's a huge setup!!! After an angel imperator the sohal is my favorite one! :fish2:

Water turnover in this tank will be close to 45x. Going to run two reeflo snapper hybrid closed loop pumps, 2-4 tunze 6105's and lots of 1" closed loop bulkheads on floor and back wall of tank to keep everything moving and no dead spots.. I like to create realistic environments in my tank with a ton of live rock and it needs a lot of flow to keep the detritus from settling

 will be a nice setup!! have you sketched up anything? about the circulation, just check out this link >>>> http://www.ultimatereef.com/TOTM/2007_jan/ it's David Saxby's configuration - there's a lot to learn and understand about circulation! ;)

I really like products from reeflo (baldor motor) - it rocks! Tunze again? Anything about vortechs?

I cycled my tank with 3 damsels, I know most people use the shrimp method but for me I think its disgusting to leave a rotting carcass in your new tank, lol. My tank only had a small 8-10 day cycle anyways as I bought about 100-120 lbs of cured pukani Liverock from my local fish store that they have had in their large vats for a few weeks already.
I personally hate vortechs.. way too noisy and a eyesore on the outside of the tank.. I whether the motor be on the inside of the tank where it will grow coralline algae and blend in eventually. My tank has barely been going a year but everything is very healthy and just starting to take off.. I bought over 400.00 of high dollar sps frags from a local reefer and have all the ones I liked from his tank on my rocks. Now it is just the waiting game as all the real estate is pretty much taken up since I try to leave 5-6" between sps colonies. Hopefully by the time I'm ready for the 330 gallon system I can just move this live rock over to seed that tank after it has been cycled. And wont have to start that tank with tiny 1" frags lol

anyone has died??? LOL about the shrimp!!! just 10 days? it's a miracle - I tried shrimp method some times - lasts between 4~6 weeks in my bared bottom tanks... s.hit! at this time I'm thinking to give a try to other methods like searchem stability, zeovit, prodibio - do you have any eperience on that?

GREAT JOB EVERYTHING IS LOOKING GOOD.. :) Na never have tried the zeovit stuff, little expensive for my blood, lol Worldwidecorals is awesome too but unfortantly im out of room till i get a bigger tank, only thing i really have room for is maybe some zoas, and ricordia and maybe a clam. but with how much real estate the sps will eventually take up these 14-15 frags will most likely fill the middle to top portion of my tank quite nicely

drilling, routing and some stuff

drilling, routing and some stuff

guys, I spend this weekend on drilling, routing and done some stuff like that:

I'm doing bean animal's overflow system on all my tanks. There're four holes:

#1 on upper left is for the emergency standpipe
#2 on upper middle is for the return pump
#3 on upper right is the open channel standpipe
#4 down left is for the full siphon standpipe

If you need some more information on this oveflow system, just check the bean animal's website >>>> http://www.beananimal.com/projects/silent-and-fail-safe-aquarium-overflow-system.aspx

bulkheads placed (that's a type of sch80 bulkheads that we have down here in BR):

I just made the teeth for the overflow and the overflow box itself:

I got this 'schema' on Melev's website: http://www.melevsreef.com/acrylics/teeth.html >>> Thanks Marc!

just sketched a template and made this 'jig' and used it with a plunge router:

overflowboxjig.jpg

Gluing the overflow box on tank's center back:

that transparent weird thing on acrylic is a 'protective plastic film adhesive' - it's necessary to remove it after the job is done.
