hey!
those strainers work good, but do add some restriction.
you should try it with and without the screen to see what you think....

some people use different ones, or put a "tee" with 2 of those on since they hold back a little...
but if the flow is good... then dont worry about it

these are what some people have been switching to...
big enough for no restriciton, but small enough to not eat fish

I have a closed loop on a hammerhead gold with one of those strainers dahenley was referring to. I also use them on the intakes for my return and skimmer pumps...They work well!!!

I love your oceans motions. Great call on that!

As pictured above... he has a spacer between the bulkhead and strainer. This is great, because it prevents sand from entering the closed loop which can scratch the OM and can cause problems with it spinning later on.

hey dahenley, i tried to buy that strainer you pointed and some other plumb fittings at Bulk Reef Supply, but that's what happened:

and just placed a big P.O (USD +1.350) on Bulk Reef Supply and they deny my credit card, but at the time I had credit so I give them a call to understand what happened... talking with the call center agent he told me that I was trying to make an international order from Brazil and they do not sell items to Brazil regardless international credit card or not. So I asked him if I could transfer money to his personal paypal account or wire money, after all I really need that fittings.. once again response was a big "NO, you can't" :ape:

about the oceans motions 4way?!?! THAT's AMAZING DEVICE. :bounce3: i'm running two of them and that's my best shot 'cause in this project i have no room for an OM 8way - I can't imagine all the plumb hassle :headwallblue:

you're 100% right! a just make a spacer/riser (???) about 2" and to prevent any grain entering into the closed-loop i'm going to use a FSB, any considerations?

just an update, after all plumb-work and play with the both closed-loops, i decide to disassemble them all - pumps and oceans motions:
  • to see how difficult this activity can be
  • to measure the time spent
  • to check and lubricate both pumps and oceans motions

i just took this opportunity to take some pictures.

this is the Reeflo Super Dart Golf pump @4300gph // 110v // 175watts:
