I spoke to lady at Keys Diver and she said they have full rental avail for $30 (complete head to toe). If you need more than just a BC and Reg ($27) to get full package for ($30) and pick through what you need....much cheaper that way. She said the equip cage is next to boat we will be diving from...so it will be easy process. The dive shop opens at 0800...so there will be plenty of time to get gear before or after the dive plan talk with the CRF/FMAS @0930.

@roblack....yes they do. She said they cary up to 4x....and BC's up to 3x. Most of their gear is Sherwood brand she said.

For what it's worth, I'll probably be diving in shorts and a dive skin.


Also JC, their rental gear comes with a dive computer on the reg.

@Biggar...the lady I spoke with earlier today said weights are included. Not sure what kind they use. Also the email sent by Gail when I signed up said we meet at 0930. I would confirm that with Marvin first.

@Marvin...that good to know. The keys cant be that deep...I'm sure our tanks will be out of air before the no stop limit...lol

here is some info from the mail:

Hi Everyone!

All divers need to register at Keys Diver by 9am. They open at 8am. Then drive over to the Pilot house where the orientation will be given. We should be in the water around noon. The dive boat I am told is right next to the Pilot house.

Keys Diver rental gear is $30. This includes a weight integrated BC and regulator with dive computer. Members who need to rent gear will need to do so on their own thru Keys Diver or a dive shop of their choice.

Divers need to bring their Certification card as well as water, snacks, etc. CRF would also greatly appreciate a donation if you are able.


If you have any other questions, or are interested in carpooling, let me know! The directions and a map to Keys Diver is found below.

Nope, not this time. It was BIG out there! I drove down with wife to make it a 3 day weekend vacation. I ended up going out that Sat afternoon on a different dive boat and the seas/swell on molasses were 4-6' and choppy. There was also a big surge under surface and divers were getting slosshed around pretty good in the reefs and vis was ok at best. Even most of the fish were hiding that day...lol. It was a good call for CRF to call it off...it would have been no fun getting surged around in the farm risking damaging the nursery.

I ended up also diving on Monday (yest) and the seas calmed down to 2-3' with much better vis. Plus the fish and critters were all out in full glory! Very nice dives that day with tons to see! Too bad I couldn't stay a few more days as the diving conditions were going to be almost perfect as the week progresses.

I'm still looking forward to dive someday at the CRF.

Gayle sent us the email. We have a BOD meeting tomorrow, thats when we usually draw up checks.

Anyone else wanting a refund please let me know by PM: your full name and how you want check to get to you.

We are still trying to reschedule but understand the request for a refund now.
