FMAS Frag Swap and Sale

Matt, I am going to need a pretty big table aswell, I am going to have loads of Used equipment from sumps, refugiums, skimmers, used pumps, controllers, dosers, wavemakers, powerheads, tanks, etc. I am wondering if I should just sell it out the back of my car, lol, or if its even worth bringing it all into the show... I am going to try and get rid of everything as cheap as possible... I will also be bringing some SPS frags, zoo's and ricordia.

Mike,

I think the tables are 3'x8'. I can put you near a side door so that it is easy to load up. I would bring it all. The big stuff you can leave in the car and have a list with prices, that way you don't have to carry it all.

Yeah, cause I have 5g tanks, 10g tanks, 20g tanks, 22g acrylic tank, 30g tank, 55g RR acrylic, 55g glass, 120g RR glass and a bunch of other stuff... was actually going to try and get rid of it before the swap, but it seems like that would be the best way.

No problem using the floor in front of the table, right??? And is it okay to bring scantily clad young ladies to attract attention?

As you can tell Im new to this, but I wanted to know how can I join FMAS? (cost, dues, etc) I have no frags to sell or trade but I would love to get my hands on some softies as large as possible lol, to stock my tank....also the wife loves em so I dont think she would mind.

And has anyone gotten a list yet of what is going to be offered?

newreefbishop, you can join at the frag swap or any of the normal meetings. Unitil the end of the year an individual membership is only $7.50 (half price) and a fmily membership is $10. We are having a special event for our July meeting so we will not have a normal meeting, but if you watch this board you will see a post for the August meeting. Our meetings are usually held the fourth Tuesday of the month at New River Middle School in Broward County.

Welcome!

I think that there will be so much variety that it would be difficult to list everything. I have only been asking what types people are bringing. Like hard or soft corals.

I think we will have zoanthus, yellow polyps (epizoanthus), green star polyps, acropora, montipora, frogspawn, ricordea florida, etc

Also lots of used drygoods like tanks, filters, calcium reactors, sumps, refugiums, skimmers, used pumps, controllers, dosers, wavemakers, powerheads etc.

hey i think i am gonna come to this frag swap. i work at Exotic Aquatic in Ft Lauderdale and know bret. he has talked me into coming. i have a buch of used equipment that i want to sell but i don't want to use up one of ur tables. should i just bring a list of what i have and have the equipment in my car? i would really like to trade the equipment for some frags and stuff for my new 100 reef. do people trade frags for equipment or am i better off selling the equipment and then buying the frags?
Thanks,
Joshua

Hi Joshua,

I think you should get a table. It would be very hard to sell it out of the car. You can sell the stuff or trade it. Thats the great thing about this. Make the best deal you can either way. By being inside you can see what everybody has and they can see what you have.

Treeman, if you need tables, I got two 8 foot foldable tables, I will bring one for my self and if anyone else needs one, they can use it, I know rogger will prob need it.

Mike,

The place has tables and chairs. It is more about how much room we have. The club seats 120+. But you can't get that many people if you want to walk around easily. I will check tommorrow to see how many tables we can set up. I think we have room for about 15. All you guys need to bring is your stuff. I will make sure the tables, chairs and drinks are ready.

I may need a few people to help me set up. I want to do it early that morning, that way I can turn the AC on and get all the tables up.

Matt, Count with me for help, just call me with a reminder a few days before.
I wonder if the tables in the club has any weight limitations, what size tank do you usually set-up?

Thanks Rogger,

The tables are just your standard table. I think they are wood. Most people I have seen just bring everything bagged and ready to go. You could bring a couple small tanks to put stuff in. I am going to bag all my stuff.

Matt, I can go in the morning to help. Just let me know what time you will be there and I will stop by to help. Are you having the swap at the same place as the meeting.

Let me know,
Mike C.

Cool, I cant wait.....I will be there and will be joining. BTW, since I am joining, do i have to pay entrance fee as well...lol

Just curious, and cant wait to see what every one has, maybe in the next six months Ill have some stuff to sell, or trade too.....

After spending the last few days shopping for softies, I cant wait to see what everyone has......

Untill my MH lights are finished I only want softies in the tank....based on what i have read that would be best for low to med light. Am I right?
