The Turtle release will take place on Tuesday, August 5th at Haulover Beach. You should arrive at 6:30 p.m. to eat and socialize before the presentation. You might also want to pack some bug spray. If you plan on attending please be sure to RSVP to sjordan@daeschools.net or call 305-681-5213 as space is limited to 50 people. If you don't RSVP you will not be permitted to attend this event as we have to pay for the amount of participants in advance. Please RSVP by Friday, August 1st.:mixed:

The turtles can only be released after it's completely dark. I figure we'll be done sometime around 9pm.

Christy and I will be there. It's actually VERY cool to watch the little guys get released.

Never thought I'd enjoy it as much as I did... definitely a must see, at least once in your life! Gives you a respect for what these guys are doing. I'll try to be there, this year.

These are baby sea turtles being released. The turtle group picks up eggs from fresh nests, holds the eggs until they hatch, and release them back into the ocean. They also give a short presentation beforehand.

shelli i am having to cancel my partner and i due to travel but will definatly attend the next one. when and where?
thanks

I was on Pompano Beach one evening when a few volunteers were going to release the hatchlings. It is really cool to watch their sense of direction towards the water. When you see them enter the water, you can't help but say a little prayer that they make it in that big open ocean!

I'll be there Tuesday!
