Not to Hijack your thread but I liked your idea so I made a nano with black foam.

I decided not to coat mine with sand because with the black foam, it looks like cooled lava!!! I am so happy with the way it turned out, Thanks for the ideas and inspiration.

Can you tell us specifically which epoxy you used?

The stuff i use is called Epoxy Finishing Resin - i would post a pic but i have run out and need more!

I am pretty sure its the stuff used for working with fibreglass - it goes on runny like paint but sets rock hard in a few hours. VERY different to normal epoxy resin which is like a lumpy glue - i bought this first in error (no use at all) but its great for frags....i have stuck all my loose zoas and rics to lumps of LR ruble with the stuff

i was thinking about doing something sort of like that for my snowflake moray that way i can give him plenty of holes to hide in
i wasnt really wure how to do it but i think ive got it now

That is awesome, I am so doing this for my next tank, which luckily for me is in the design process. That looks so good, I love the more natural look, it beats the look of stacking a few rocks together and being done with it. Congrats on the beautiful looking tank, can't wait to see it with water. Fill it up already.

well the background with the foam and covering it with sand is the same way ppl make dart frog backgrounds.. http://www.brianstropicals.com/building.html a little way down.. and it shows the same thing preety much.. cept your is alot cooler!
