Foam Pad under 180g Tank

What is the best hardware store product to use for self leveling/eliminate pressure points on my new 180?

I can't sit the tank directly on the pad because it's being positioned through a wall and will need to slide into place. It's 330 pounds. The wall opening is 27" for the 24.25" tank height. So we will get it into the opening then push/slide it into place on the base built on the unfinished side of the wall.

I'm thinking of using 1.5" laver of carpet padding spray glued between 2 cut to size pieces of 3/8" thin plywood.
That would allow the tank to be slid into position while still being on padding.

Question #1
Will the padding still serve it's purpose if there is 3/8" of plywood between it and the tank?

Question #2
Will 1.5" of standard carpet pad compress too easily and be ineffective? Other products like rigid foam panel insulation might be better b/c they won't compress much until the water goes in and we reach 2700 lbs.

Rimmed All-Glass tank
Drilled at center-upper rear

Conventional wisdom is that a rimmed tank does not need a foam pad. I don't know about 'all-glass' (Aqueon now if memory serves) but Marineland, for example, recommends that you not have foam under their tanks. If yours is a new tank, you may want to check with the manufacturer. Regardless, something like a carpet pad would be a very poor choice - you really want to use a rigid foam like the pink stuff sold at HD.

trimmed tanks doesnt get pads. but if you are paranoid... you can use those thin foam yoga mats.

we only pad the bottom for trimless tanks. either with the home depot pink pads or high density foam pads from.... sears?
