Foam/Rock Wall for my 265 gallon Tank!

-Hi Speckled grouper , very informatif thread

I'm diy-ing a 154 g SPS system , where i want to fit a diy back wall onto the back.
I already ordered my pond foam and 3 kg's of dried rock .
I can't seem to find good epox to seal it , suggestions or is it possible w/o sealing ?
How long does it takes to cure a tank with dry rock / diy backwall ?
Gonna use old tankwater and old LR to seed new tank and was hoping that it would speed things up a bit?
Did you have alot of algea outbreak while curring your tank ?

greetingzz tntneon :)

I would strongly suggest to seal it, you will appreciate that later on. I used live sand and fresh ocean water and I barely had a cycle.

-Thx Speckled Grouper for answering my questions
Great to hear that you didn't had a long cycle , i'm hoping for it too.

I already found a good epox sealant from Mr . boat , they even suggests this product to be "also perfect for making aquarium backwalls..."

I still have one question , is it possible to push the rocks into the foam w/o having them to zip tie them ?
I was thinking this to prevent me to accidentely spill foam onto the rocks and also a bit out of lazyness :D

Small rocks, yes. But you want the natural look, so you will want to use different size rocks and I would strongly suggest to secure the bigger ones. Just look at them closely, a lot of rocks have holes you can push the zip ties through, also different shaped shells look nice. I made caves and swim through's by cutting the top and the bottom off 16oz soda bottles, zip tying them on and coating them with foam. Don't be afraid of the foam, there is plenty time to shape it or remove it if you don't like the outcome. And you will get better in time!

Thx Speckled Grouper for all the help . Now when you sealed your foam did you do seal the rock to. Also when you did the soda bottle did you take out the bottle when foam dryed ? Thx.
