Foam Rockwall w/ built in refuge for a 26 gal bowfront

Nice! I look forward to another sweet, fake walled tank. What forum will you put it in? I've been saving up some witty banter…

Ha! I am still mentally just as cheap as before, but I find myself slipping when I 'need' something.. I use something similar to the the credit card mentality where you don't have to see the money leave the wallet to justify it. I just turn off the part of my brain that says there's a cheaper option or you don't need it and just do it. Haha

I know what you mean. I love a cheap solution, but a lot of the time you save money in the long run buying the good stuff. It makes this hobby more enjoyable and adds to your quality of life. And we're worth it!

So, you're going to be setting up the new tank with fancy hardware this time? Ooh la la!

While you wait for the new thread, here's a fun pic of my rbta wanting to be cheese to a cheese grater. Lol

I have 6 RBTA's after starting with 1. Over the course of 5 or so years they have split. Some say due to feeding, others stress, personally I have no idea. I used to feed but stopped after the first time it happened. Since then not really sure. Original was in a 29 gallon bio cube. Once one became two they sort of cramped the 29 gallon cube and I upgrade to a 40 breeder. I guess two is lonely or they thought they had more room. Before you know it I had 3, then 4, then 5, and I was like enough is enough. Ordered an upgrade which I am about ready to start the cycle for their next home. That is it though, no more.

Sadly I have run into this same issue and both times they recovered. I have a CPR Bak Pak skimmer and in both cases the bubble tips found a way to get sucked into the power heads intake. Even though it is a fine mesh or thin slots for water to enter, it got pulled in and stretched. It clogs it up pretty good so stops and I can usually get them back out once I catch it. They scurry away and hide then back out in a couple days like nothing happened. Darn things.

I'm not sure if they are has bad as Xenia (which I also have) but they are because the difficulty, for me anyway, to take back to the store or give away. So I'm going to move them into the 240 hoping they stay at 6...

That's crazy. They sure are tough little things! Everywhere you look there are people saying you should wait at least 6mo before adding a nem. I have realized it's not necessarily needing your tank taking that long to mature, but your Saltwater mindset to grow and mature. Clearly these things can tolerate quite a bit!

I wish mine would split more often than once every 2 years! I need a reason for a 240g too ya know. Haha

I have the opposite problem here, the only place that sells them wants $55 for one that's not really a rose, but green and pink the size of a golfball...
They had one I wish I bought last Christmas that was gorgeous! Tan foot, bright green oral disk and tentacles with nice purple tips. Didn't have enough room too justify it :/

I have people lined up to buy either of mine if I decide to sell them. I sold my last clown pair (reg. Misbar and blacker ice occ.) with a 6" rbta that had a torn foot for $120 a while back.

I just need these little bast*rds to let go!

Ouch! Reminds me of getting the tender bits stuck in a zipper!

Pretty tight shot. Are you hiding something? Been letting things slide while you get the new tank up to speed? Can't say that I blame you. You've been MIA for a while. New job 'n stuff?

When do we get to see the new model? Goals? Direction? Inquiring minds blah, blah, blah…

Hey, how did you like the cherub angel? If you remember, I was considering one or possibly a small harem. Too mean? Inquiring minds yada, yada, yada…

How about LED projects? Am I nosy or what!

Haha, I bet it was terrified!

I've been preoccupied with the Jerry Springer thread over in the uh plant forum.. *cough :uzi:

Nah, I was busy with work the past few months, but that has slowed drastically until the spring semester rolls around and I'll be busy again. Nothing new on that front other than getting my CFII (certified flight instructor - instrument) allowing me to teach flying in the clouds back in September.

Honestly, I lost interest. Nothing really new going on with the tank and with the new tank I really started neglecting it. Haven't been scraping the glass, to lazy to stick the green digi back into the wall when it falls out, etc.. that's the main reason I've been MIA. Gotta get in a snarky remark here and there over at the 'tope now and again, but a lack of thread activity and interest had gotten to me.
Hopefully that'll change! I'm gonna try to post the new thread in the next couple hours when I sort some pictures out for the intro.

I only recently started working on the cube and it's starting to take shape nicely. I was kinda disappointed yesterday after herniating myself lifting it by myself from the floor to the top of my 4 ft tall stand and thinking it looked smaller then the 26 bow front. I traded width for depth. Hopefully that changes and I've angled the stand to the corner of the room instead so I think that'll help.

We also moved across town! So that's been a lot of work.

The cherub angle was fantastic, until it went MIA... Peaceful and didn't eat corals. I'll likely buy another at some point.

Led projects. Lol
Most recent would be the completion of my bumper shoulder lights that I relocated the turn signals for, swapping all the Amber led turn signals and grill lights for another brand and adding resistors to each corner to fix the retarded flasher relay issue.
Going for the UFO look!

All these questions are taking time from the new thread! [emoji14]

Tender or naughty...

How about LED projects? Am I nosy or what!

Not sure who that is addressed to but I do have a upgrade in progress. 240 gallon upgrade from the 40 breeder like I noted above. I am using 4 custom LED multi chips from blueacro. I just wired up a pair to test coverage the other night. I'm happy with the color and spread. Will be interesting to see how all 4 are once water is in the tank with sand and rock during the cycle. If I need more light I'll add another pair which would leave me room to add another pair if needed.

Ever feel like there is a conversation going on between A and B that didn't involve C? I feel like C right about now :) But I do have a upgrade and LED in progress - that has to count for something :)

@sam.basye - grats on certification.

I like those lights you put together, saf1 and thanks!

I tried replacing the LED's and power supply in my little box light and it kicked my a**. It works, but the center led of the 5 in series has to be bypassed for it to shine at full brightness. New wires, new chips, I've tried it all, so only the 4 whites light up..

Michael and I seem to have this weird connection like twins.. except I think I'm the more normal of the two. Ha

I seem to have some sort of LED obsession and tend to try and put them in everything. Lol

saf1, I took a look at your pic and I can't quite figure it out. Can you post a clearer pic? Congrats on the new 240! Got a thread for it? I'd love to follow your build.

Twins huh? I've always thought of you as my nerdy nephew.

I guess I'm going to miss the unveiling Sam. Getting sleepy. Oh, I just got your Jerry Springer joke! Ha ha!

Nice work on the Forerunner. I just went camping with guy who had one tricked out with a fold out tent on the roof.

Nighty night!
