Foam Rockwork

I was at a hobby store today and noticed some fake rockwork used by train enthusiasts to build mountain scenery for their landscapes. It was called Natural Foam Rockwork. I believe it was made out of 100% latex. Might be good to use on back wall or on built in overflows or even to cover PVC structures instead of that pond foam stuff.
Does anyone know if this stuff is safe to use in an aquarium?

Did you bother to smell that stuff? I have seen that as well, but thought it was best for a terraium for lizards and such. I guess you would need to contact the manufacturer and see if it was intended for use in Saltwater. I would be concerned, especially given amount of UV radiation in a marine tank is a lot different than a heat lamp for reptiles.

Pond foam will give you way more creative freedom and has been tested. A little more of a PIA, but usually worth it in results.

good luck either way...

No I didn't smell it. It was in a sealed bag. I asked the workers at the hobby store but they had no idea if it could be used in a saltwater aquarium. Contacting the manufacturer is a good idea
