Foam Under Tank?

Getting ready to move everything to my new All Glass 125 w. dual overflows. Question is, should i put styrofoam between the tank and the stand or just let the tank sit right on the stand? Thanks

If you do that you may make the tank sit unevenly. It may cause a stress point and crack there. If you want to prevent the transfer of vibrations to the floor, there is a green felt sticky type stuff that can go between the stand and the floor.

If it's got a plastic ring on the bottom, which it should, then no foam. Especially if it's an aga stand. If You have a stand that is homemade and not quite true then foam would be ok.

Foam

Foam

I have an AGA on a home built stand and I have a sheet of foam under it to comp for the uneven points it relieves the stress of high spots
My tank has been up for 2 years
Good Luck

if your tank is an AGA then do not put foam as per the company. I have a AGA tank on a homemade wood stand and I contacted them and they said it has to placed directly on the plywood.

Putting it on any stand other than an AGA voids the warranty if you look at the fine print. So I would use the foam on a homemade stand for piece of mind as the warranty isn't going to do you any good:lol:

"Is foam recommend under an acrylic tank on a homemade stand?"

Yes !

For the guys that are saying not to put foam on an AGA Tank & Stand, have you seen the crap that has been coming out from AGA & Oceanic lately ..... I was at a LFS this weekend looking for a stand and non, i repeat non of the AGA stands that i took a look at had the tanks sitting perfectly flush on the top . I would not feel safe if I did not have foam. You can put foam under a tank with trim, you just have to make sure you do not have foam under the part that does not have trim as this could crack the bottom sheet of glass from the pressure of the foam
