I started using microvert, and it seems like its good stuff ! added it to my line up as well.

keep it coming :) alot of great info, thanks

30 ml dried copepods
10 ml dried phyto
10 ml dried arctipods
10 ml dried rotifers
1/2 teaspoon sodium alginate powder
16 ounces water

Blend, refrigerate overnight, blend again, and put in chiller

I get the pods from AquacultureNurseryFarms.com, and the alginate from WillPowder.com/sodiumAlginate.html (alginate is from algae). I've found the big advantage of powdered foods compared to liquid foods is that it almost does not smell at all (only a bit like hay), and it does not seem to ever go bad in the chiller, even after 6 weeks. Just have to stir it every few days.

I feed a cocktail of

FM seafan
FM Minf
FM clam
Frozen rotifers
frozen ova
golden pearls (rethinking)
Marine snow
microvert

You keep posting about "dried artcipods" of which there is no such thing. We own the mark for Arcti-Pods thus only a Reef Nutrition product can carry the name. You are using a dried copepod from the arctic. It could be the same species as Arcti-Pods, or it could be the other which is just as pervasive.

Im glad you joined :) question for you, most stores around here say you can use the oysterfeast and rotifeast for a month after it expires, is that true ?

If stored properly, yeah, month after is OK :)

Due to a new push by a state regulator, we will be changing the language from "Best Before" to "Expires" but that will not change the fact its typically fine a month after. The worst shelf life offenders of ours are the zooplankton feeds like Arcti-Pods and Mysis-Feast. We cannot kill the enzymes in their guts so eventually it does eat through the carapace.
