For anyone battling red turf algae

I had some red turf algae slowly take over my 90g tank, covering some 70% of the 150lbs of live rock. Ordered some mexican turbos from LiveAquaria and the dozen that I tossed in the tank are decimating the algae! I am absolutely amazed ( and relieved!). I really thought I was looking at replacing my live rock.
Hope this helps someone. Thanks.

Thanks Chris,

I have been searching for days now trying to figure out what this algae is called. Now I not only found the name but the solution. Can you verify for me that the algae at the bottom of the picture is red turf, thanks....

BTW this pic was taken about 8 months ago and that stuff has since spread all over my tank. I hate it I tell you!

I can't be certain looking at that picture. The red turf algae I have is short "tuffs", and will grow just about anywhere in the tank. I had it all over the live rock, pumps, and overflow. Seems to really like light and flow. Grows real dense, and can not be manually eradicated from the rocks. I would break off clumps of it, and it was always real slimy. Good luck. Those Mexs have just about cleaned it up in a matter of two weeks!

I have some of that in one of my tanks, it is growing under a patch of zoas and making the look agitated all the time.

I have some Mex Turbos that are getting ready to be hungry! I wish I had only bought 6 instead of 12. I had no idea how effective these guys would be!
