For sale: 75G Complete system

It looks like most of the livestock and rock are on their way out, so it is time to sell the rest of my 75G equipment (plus some other stuff I have laying around).

I made this Hood and Stand myself. It is tall and can be viewed while standing in front of it. It has a red-oak finish and some kitchen cabinet doors on the hood and stand (color matches hood/stand, but grain is different â€"œ still looks okay). It is way overbuilt with a 2x4 frame covered by ¾” red oak ply on the sides/back and solid red oak on the front and trim. It is 6” deeper than the tank to allow for a hidden mechanical chase. Please see the following DIY links for more details:

For the entire functional system (replacing my 30G glass sump with a 20G acrylic sump), I am asking $800. If I don’t get that in the next couple weeks, I’ll part-out as follows (consider this a list of what is included in the $800):

  • Tank/Stand/Hood: $500
  • 175W dual MH retrofit kit with reflector and remote ballasts in junction box (with two Iwasaki 15000K bulbs with 6mo and 10hr/day use): $150
  • Iwasaki 15000K bulbs (2) used 14 mo and 10hr/day: $10 each
  • Berlin Turbo skimmer with pinwheel pump (had cracks repaired with Weld-On 4 â€"œ water-tight but might be best to use in-sump): $75
  • External overflow (inside/outside boxes), U-tubes, and plumbing: $40
  • 20G acrylic sump (can be wet/dry and include bio-balls): $75
  • Return plumbing, balance valves, and Loc-line fittings in tank: $15
  • Mag12 pump: $60
  • 4" Fans, 120V, 71cfm, 34dB (including screens and brass mounting hardware): $15 each

I will also have another Mag12 ($60) with spare impeller ($10) or Mag9 ($45) to sell. I’ll list some other items next week. I just wanted to get my tank out there.

I will keep this equipment in service until all my livestock is gone. That should be within two weeks time or sooner.

My wife is happy to see it go, though. :) I will still have a couple of nano tanks to play with.

I just noticed that the link to the hood thread is bad. Here it is:

And the full pic from when I first finished the hood:

I've gone through and post links to more pics so you can see what the pieces look like. I have also knocked $50 off the hood/stand and the entire package and shown the tank as a split item from the Hood and Stand. Any standard 75G tank will work with my tank. I also added my old Ushio 175W MH lights to the package as backup lighting.

Entire functional system (with 20G acrylic sump): $750

I'll give it a week or two to see if somebody wants the system. If I part out, the prices are as follows:
  • Hood and Stand: $350
  • 75G standard glass tank: $100
  • 175W dual MH retrofit kit with remote ballast box (includes 2 Iwasaki 15000K bulbs w/ 6mo life): $150
  • 175W Iwasaki 15000K bulbs (2) used 14 mo: $10 each
  • 175W Ushio 10000K bulbs (2) used ~12 mo: $10 each
  • Berlin Turbo skimmer with pinwheel pump (had cracks repaired with Weld-On 4 â€"œ water-tight but might be best to use in-sump): $75
  • External overflow (inside/outside boxes), U-tubes, DIY silencer, and plumbing: $40
  • 20G acrylic sump (can be wet/dry and include bio-balls or could be sump refugium): $75
  • Return plumbing, balance valves, and Loc-line fittings in tank: $15
  • Mag12 pump: $60
  • 4" Fans , 120V, 71cfm, 34dB (including screens and brass mounting hardware): $15 each

I will also have the following related items for sale:

I will keep this equipment in service until all my livestock is gone. That should be within two weeks time or sooner.

Both Mag 12 pumps are 4~5 years old. I think I've replaced the impeller on both once and have a spare one in the box. One ran for 3 years straight and the other has run for all 5 years. The Mag 9 is about 2-1/2 years old and has run continuously for that time on my freshwater tank.

I haven't decided if I want to leave the Mag9 on the freshwater tank with the existing acryllic wet/dry or move my 30G glass sump and Mag12 over to it. I suppose what people want to buy will help determine my decision.

I'll start looking at parting out this weekend. I have just been too occupied to make time to properly post it all. Whatever gets the most out of my house will have preference on the parts (like if somebody buys the hood with the fans installed, they'll get preference -- otherwise I'll remove the fans and sell them individually).

BTW, I'd be willing to seperate the hood and stand if somebody was interested. The stand would work fine by itself (I ran it that way for a year). And the hood would fit a 48"x24" tank like some 120G tanks are built.

Since I am already being nibbled to death by PMs and (as I expected) have had nobody wanting to buy the entire system, please consider all items on this tank ready to be parted out. Some things have been requested, but nothing has been firmed and all items are still available.

Here is a pic I took this morning with shows a better angle on the tank:

Nice workmanship, Scott. I just don't need another tank. If you want to sell the MagFloat, LMK :)

Dave

Consider it sold! If you can get it to Don sometime this w/e, I'm receiving a live goods order that he is piggy backing on with me, so he can deliver it to me when he picks up his "goods". Thanks!

Mag float is yours, Dave. I'll be on a hectic schedule trying to get all the livestock out of my tank and to the appropriate owners tomorrow and still make church tomorrow night in time to practice my guitar (playing solo for one song) with the singer. That means sometime between noon and 3:30pm to meet up with Don. I'll try to call him. But if you speak with him before then, please let him know.

I've been getting responses from far away for components of my system and everybody is trying to wheel-and-deal my cost down as well as get my cost to include shipping and the like. I am more a sticker-price guy and these back-and-forth is driving me nuts. I'll give a reasonable discount for combining items, but I hate the entire "bargaining" process. Just be aware of that if you contact me and I start getting grumpy. :)

Is 3:00 ok to come and pick up the rock? Let me know if there is a better time. If I don't hear from you I'll see you at 3 tomorrow. If you could PM me a total that would be great too ( balpark, I know we will have to see how much is there when we are pulling it out tomorrow).

Oh hey Kim, you can leave the check for the salt/DFS with Scott if you want... That will save you a stamp even!!! :D I'm going to be there around the same time as you anyhow... ;)

@Kim: That would be fine, but I have to get out of here by 3:30 on my way to see Art or my schedule will fall apart tomorrow. :) I will wait until you get here before I start pulling things out. You might want to bring a few salt buckets or big rubbermaid tub.

Let me know if there is any left :P I still have room in my sump/fuge for any LR that is left :) Thanks again Scott for all that you've sold, the couple corals and LR I got from you are doing great!
