For Sale threads

As much as I don't like the idea of inactive forum participants using the MARS forum as a Craigslist - I am not going to rehash the topic. But if you are going to post something for sale - please follow some basic rules:

1. Post the price in your thread.

2. No auction allowed (no highest offer). You can set a price and OBO - but if someone offers buy it at the price you set, sell it at that price.

3. Don't sell your non-reef junk here. That's what Craigslist is for.

And last - if you're a business - please let members know. I hate the thought that members are trying to sell frags/LR to each other, and businesses could be purchasing them for resale at a profit.

Thanks for the etiquette tip. Most of us newbies are just simply unaware of these things and fumble our way about until somebody sets us straight.

I agree with you Minh. Thanks for reminding us of the proper way to offer your item for sale. May I also suggest that if you are a MARS member, bring your items to the meetings so people can see it.

You will see a new member focused direction come this month the MARS meetings.

You must have 50 contributory posts (ie, not "Nice Tank" "Bump" "Sweet Tank" etc...) and have been registered for 90 days before you can sell or trade an item.

We really should abide by this. It would keep new people from making this forum into Craigslist Jr.

Just another addition: If you have multiple items for sale, please put them in one posts. We don't need half a dozen FS posts from one person in a day.

It seems we're all good now and with this as a stickey at the top seems to keep newer folks in line as well...

Ironic but I don't know if it is the economy or just some people figuring... it can't hurt to ask... but, I for one, am becomming annoyed with the rash of begging threads.

Here is my suggesting: Restrict begging issues to Craigslist with the exception of cases of reef related emergencies or true need. Only problem is who is going to be the cop for segregating true need and emergencies.

Sooner or later, I suppose we'll figure out we should just ignore them and let them be.
