For the people that go through thousands of gallons of water..

Hello, I wanted to ask people who need to make lots and lots of water for their tanks about filtering the water.

Has anyone heard of, or have feedback about Kold Ster-il System?

Apparently, for 1K, you can make 150,000 gallons of TDS=0 water.

I am currently using the DI tanks and if the above is true, then this is much less expensive!

Poly Bio Marine is the manufacturer, and it only takes out impurities vs. DI where it takes everything out of the water (alk, etc as I understand it)

They say it's a 3 canister tank system. If I understand correctly, it goes like this:

1- Barrier Restriction
2- Adsorption
3- Absorption

Is this for real?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I use one of the small Kold Ster-il filters. I really like it, but I also start out with really decent water (45-55 TDS without filtration).

Water out of the unit will NOT be TDS = 0. It actually doesn't really make sense to talk about TDS with this system, because it does NOT filter out any calcium, alk, or magnesium that might be in your source water. So, there will be dissolved solids in your water. (And, I feel that that is a good thing. Especially as most salt brands expect that the end user will mix up with tap water. So, if you mix up most salt brands with RO/DI you wind up with low Ca, alk, and Mg and have to supplement anyway.)

You are correct on the three canisters: .5 micron filter, carbon, and filter pads.

I use it. I'm in a re-model and I'm going to install the big unit to use as water filtration for the important water sources in my house (kitchen sink, etc.) as well as on-tap in the fish room.

All with no waste water.

But, your mileage may vary. As I said, I start off with really decent water in the first place. I've seen Calfo say that he thinks that this would be a great pre-filter for a DI-only unit.
