For Those Who Use Rubbermaid Stock Tanks.....

I have never heard that. I have had mine for over 2.5 years, and in actual use for a little less than that. I love them being in the garage. No spills on the carpet or any mess to really have to clean up after a water change.
 
I have a sump in a sump. I put the smaller Brute container in my sump. Drilled a couple of holes in the lid of the Brute and ran my drain lines thru the holes. Drilled 5 1-1/2" holes in the sides of the Brute where I wanted my water level. No microbubbles and have no issue with splatter/splash from the drain lines.

I put the unions in but haven't used them in the year this has been running.
