For those with rock walls, and even those that don't

I need some suggestions, my wall is done, nearly cured, and in my next tank... Unfortunately, the thing I was hoping wouldn't happen is (I've been avoiding it). The stupid wall is too much foam, not enough rock. It floats!

I tried to wedge it in the back, but it just creeps out and floats up every time. I think I am going to try to placing a solid plastic sheet over the bottom piece of eggcrate, and then putting 40-50 pounds of sand over that and see if it is enough, maybe with 10 pounds of additional rock, to keep it down. I hope it is, but I won't know till at least this weekend.

Did you all have any problems like this? It's so late in the game, I can't really trim it up to get rid of the foam now. This is frustrating.

When we built our overflow cover for our 90, ours ended up tilting forward in the tank due to the amount of foam. It wasn't exactly floating, but it wouldn't stay the way we intended it to because of the poorly balanced weight of it. We took chunks of rock and just piled them on and around it to get it to stay in place. It takes a very small amount of that foam to have something float - you can ask anyone that tried to pick up our overflow cover at the meeting at Wayne's. They never would have guessed ours would give us trouble weighing in at close to 40 pounds. Good luck - use any and all ingenuity you can come up with to make it work...

I also had the same problem with the "cave" I built, it wanted to float. I was able to cut a fair amount of foam off of the back side as it goes against the back of the tank, and then it would sit in there ok. That is one problem anyone who make one of these will need to know. more rock & less foam or something to anchor with. And test it in a tank of water first to make sure it does not float. Those were the mistakes I made anyway.
