'Forcing' a RBTA to split

I've had my RBTA for about a year. In that time it has frown from about 4" across to about 12" across and is taking over my tank! I've read the threads about cutting them in half, but I'm not sure I'm up for that. I ran across a thread where someone forced them to split by feeding them heavily for 2 weeks then doing an 80% water change. Has anyone determined what about the water change caused the split? I have a main tank, a frag tank system (2 40g breeders & sump) and a hospital tank (20g with PC lights). I was wondering if I just lowered the salinity in my hospital tank to 1.022 and transferred the RBTA to there from my main if he would split.

mine got that big and split,,,, if you can wait, most others do as well,

you could cut it in half.

I had mine for 1.5 year before it split. It was about 4" at first grew to about 12" and split on its own, after about a year and a half.

Unless you are trying to do it for profit, I would let it split on its own.
