Form a Gasket for bad pump o-ring

I have a coralife 790P pressure pump. The main pump o-ring is bad, and it leaks when under pressure.

I see the o-ring is bad and does not even fit in the channel well anymore.

I can't find a replacement ring anywhere.

Has anybody used some form-a-gasket type product to make 0-rings? I know there are a lot of automotive type products that do this.

Coralife is usually pretty good with support, I would call them.
I have gotten o rings from stores for power transmission.
Drive chain, bearings, pillow blocks, belts etc.

In my area I've found almost any O-ring possible at an agricultural pump company. Any company that supplies/maintains/repairs water pumps would be a good source too.

Sorry, I don't think form-a-gasket would be a good replacement.

You can also buy bulk o-ring material and make your own. It is just the round rubber that comes in 3-5 foot chunks you cut off how much you need and super glue the ends together.

I would not want to trust rubber held together by cyano-acrylate.... it might it might not in a salt water environment. Most companys manufacturing/marketing pumps are pretty good with replacement parts that simply will not last forever.

The super glue only holds the o-ring together until the two halves are assembled and then it should be held by the grooves in the pump housings. I do agree that finding the proper o-ring is the best choice but I think you could make a custom one and be fine.

Contacting coralife was the right answer. They told me that they don't have the parts anymore BUT the pump is the same as a "Blue Line 40 HD" and I can get parts for that.

Still curious if anybody has self made O-rings with success.

I haven't tried to make an o-ring but found the cording at Home Depot to do it in the plumbing section by the faucets. I actually went to the auto parts store and they had a pack of different size O-rings to rebuild distributors. One of them fit my pump so I was good to good.
