Formalin Bath

Hello all,

I was reading the FAQ and saw reference to a formalin bath before the QT begins. I did not see a prescribed length for the bath, unless the fish flips out.

How long do you leave the clown in for given he accepts it farily well?

aerate the water before hand for at least 30 minutes and then add the fish, do your best to keep the params of the water the same as the tank water. You can dip fish from 15-45 min. 30 mins is probably the min you want unless the fish freaks. Ideally the longer the better but not over 45min IME. check out the fish disease forum and they will have exact details on how to perform this.

2 false percs. In the FAQ it states this is a good prophylatic practice for clowns.

if they are captive bred I wouldn't worry too much about it but it always pays to play it safe.

Yes they are tank raised but as you mentioned I would like to play it safe before they go in to QT. Do you aerate the water while they are in the bath?
