I was sitting in front of my tank last night watching the fish and inspecting the nooks and crannies of my rocks. I noticed in a small bit of chaeto that escaped the sump into my display two small polyps. It was in a dark corner so I couldn't see it too well but looked like it had a dark face with bright green fringe. I scooped it up to place on a dead clam shell. As I held it, if felt like a small snail sucking on my hand. I placed it in the bowl of a dead clam shell and put some mesh over it to give it time to attach hopefully grow. What I find odd is that I don't have any green fringe zoos in my tank, I only use mixed water, not natural sea water. I haven't put anything new in my tank for months.
Any ideas how it could have happened?
How long should I leave the mesh over the clam shell?
