well i bought some Paly's yesturday and during acclimation i found some little tiny nudi's not sure if any of these things are good or not...they are small one is about 7mm long the other about 5mm

plus there are eggs on the paly's how do i get them off?

i am a little upset that i didnt see the egg's/ recognize they where eggs before i put them in my tank..i really hope nothing hatched whie in the tank for the 12 hours...

the palys are in the sump now in a pail that i will be changing the water every 12 hours or so...until i figure out how to kill th eeggs..i dont have a quarantine tank so what ever i do has to be done soon as i dont think they will last long in the pail

the nudi's are brown and white...they look like they have little tiny leaves hanging off them...what i suspect are the eyes extend out about 2mm and they have a little white tail...

All nudibranches feed off corals, anenomes or sponges. That means unless you got berghia (fat chance) nudis they are definately harmful. You could probably scrape off the eggs with a soft toothbrush, but thats the only avice I could give you....

well after a little research i have what i think is a positive ID as Cnidaria Aeolidiopsis (paly eating Nudi) Bastards are solar powered to so removing food wont necessarily remove the nudi's as they can live of the zooanthalgae (sp) that they absorb from the paly's they are killing...

Now what do i do?

Do you have other Paly's in the display? I would keep em in the bucket or a QT and inspect regularly for nudis. You may also be able to blast the eggs off with a powerhead. Be vigilant and you will win. I beat monti eating nudis in the same manner.

well i cleaned all the paly's...i hope....those eggs are super sticky...toothbrush didnt cut it..i had to physically pull them off with my fingers...

i snapped some shots of the nudi's...my camera/ i suck a taking good macro shots..

they are now dead...and i thik too are the eggs..

HOW fast do the eggs hatch? i want to know if any are in the display...i ahve heard/read that flatworm exit will smoke them..but i am sure that would wreak havoc on my display..LPS,SPS,an ZOA/palys thousands of pods too..

I wouldnt count on the FWE to kill them. I have no experience with it and paly eating nudis, but I know it wont kill monti eating nudis, not at a reef safe dosage anyway.

i have joker paly's as well...and to be honest not sure if half my zoa might not be paly's...LOL i cant tell the difference..

eagle eyes, dragon eyes, creamsicle, tubs blues, bambams, fire and ice, and a wack of others i dont know the names of...some have already encrusted on to the rocks though.some wicked sweet purple and teal blue ones...some green and bluw, some red, some orange and green,,,,plus some button polyps..

will zoas be safe if these infact are paly eating nudi's?

i wish it was monti eating...i only have two monti's..

Usually the coral eating nudi's have specific diets, but paly's and zoas are so close it might switch.

SWEET....just what i wanted to hear...:(

The nudi's I got the other day have gone after palys and zoos. They seem to really like the fringe on palys. That is how I discovered them.

this is exactly what i found here...as seen on ZoaID.com
http://www.zoaid.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=637&g2_serialNumber=2

hope i dont get in trouble for linking the pic...

and i scratched off about 8 little egg swirls....there was pretty much one on every polyp of the palys...

i noticed everytime i swirled the water in the pail that the palys were in the little tenticle things on its back kept breaking off...and scary enough they seemed to keep moving on their own afterward...

there are no ID's listed with the nudis themselves but it looks like your typical paly eating nudi..

LOL i meant to say wheni swirled the water in the nudi pail..the thingys on their backs broke off..

so does Anyone Know what the gestation period of these eggs are?

LOL i want to know wheni can be safe putting these new palys back into my tank...

here is a pic i took and cropped as my macro/ i really suck at taking good pics..

just an update too..i have been FW dipping for the last four days every day for about 2 minutes, shaking them rather virogrously and today was the first day that little tiny babies fell off, so i guess i have a couple more days in QT...looks like the eggs take about 4 days to hatch..

i wonder how many more are still in there...
