Found baby clam, now what?

Hey fellow reefers,

i bought corals last week to put in my need 10G nano. After a couple of days i thought one of the rocks with 1 green mushroom didn't look the same and didn't why. Last night came back home to see the rock with the green mushroom on the tank's floor. Went to pick it up and something moved.

That something is a baby clam about 3/4" - 1" long. It's beige and looks like a tridacna.......but can't say which one. I've pulled out the guy from the rock to put it on top of the rocks, closer to the light. It was attatched to the green mushroom's rock. Pulled hard and on top it went.

This morning i saw the clam has moved in the tank and was again attached to some rock, under some clove. Pulled hard again and put it back on top of the rocks in a better place thinking i've put it on the right side. After 15 minutes i see the guy reaching for something with what looks like to me as a white attaching byssal. I turned it around to better see it's "waving" shell.

Now i hope it's on the right side and that's it's gonna attach itself again to the rock.

Any suggestions would be welcome. What do i feed the guy?

Thanks again for your time.

Martin

first stop pulling it off the rock, you can damage the clam that way. are you sure its a tridacnid? from how you described it and where you found it, it sounds like a small filter feeding clam.

can you post a photo of it

Thanks

Have i heard somebody laugh? When you know who it is, it doesn't matter......really.

Doesn't look like a tridacna clam. Looks more like a filtering clam like someone else posted. As far as food goes it is a feeds on the things in the water. Filter feeds. Whats are you adding to the tank to feed your corals? Do you have fish in the tank?
