i am assuming thats what this is, my daughter found it on the beach , not in the surf or in the water, on the sand . I see these all the time and assume they are dead, dried out in the sun, however she placed it in a bucket with water and later in the day i looked at it and saw polyps . I "fragged" it the best i could, it was to large to go in whole, and attached it to rock in my tank.I have no experience with these and i would never purchase one due to there complexity. Does it look like its going to survive?

You have to target feed it! They dont need high light or anything. Keep water clean and feed it with photo

ive got tons of filter feeders in the tank and do not target feed them,, i wonder if phytoplankton is absolutely needed

I have a huge one of these and it likes to close up every now and then. I've never target fed it, but I do broadcast feed my system with Coral Frenzy maybe once or twice a week and I also blow off the rocks to get detritus in suspension maybe once every couple of weeks.

It grows relatively fast for me and I've fragged it may times.

It looks like yours is in pretty good shape considering you found it on the sand. They're pretty hardy IME, tough to kill and very forgiving, good "beginner" gorg IMO if you're not used to keeping them.
