found something in a snail shell

so I picked up a couple of old shells from my LFS for my hermits. I had a hermit take this shell 2 days ago. Than tonight I see he is not in it anymore and I spy something so I throw it into my bare QT tank and this what I saw.

there is at least 3 of these (arms) I want to say its a brittle star but not sure if they come in red

Bristle Worm. He's a good worm to have, and I would add him and the shell back in. Just be careful to not do it barehanded, as they will sting you.

I'm sure he will leave eventually, they typically live in the sand bed and scavenge. They don't need to live in a shell like a hermit crab or snail

He'll establish in or under a rock if he outgrows the shell. Good guy. They get up to a foot long, and indicate a healthy tank.

its been 3 days and they are still alive so that makes me feel good. nothing like taking it nice and slow
