foundation concerns

Hi all. I have searched but couldn't find any discussion of foundation issues related to large tanks. I am starting to consider a reef tank in the 200 â€"œ 250 gallon range. In asking around I’ve heard that even though I have a concrete foundation I may need to think about possible foundation issues before selecting and placing a tank of this size. I’m hoping that this can spark a discussion where hopefully I and others looking at making the jump to a large tank can find answers to these concerns.

Thank you,
Russell

Well...my 400 gallon system is sitting directly on my concrete foundation... I don't think you have anything to be concerned about.

I'm getting ready to set a 550 on the concrete slab of my old garage. I don't anticipate any problems but I suppose that time will tell.

I have a 500 gal. For 2 years no problem. The same spot before that I hade a 200 gal. For 10 years still no problem . Its on 24" till on concreated.

As a licenced contractor if your going on a concrete slab it would take way more than a 200gal or even a 500gal. to do anything.....
even on a second floor if your tank is running perpendicular to the floor joists you would be completely fine with a 200 or 300 gal.
