Four Clownfish, is that ok?

So here is my situation. 5 years ago I took down my tank and my lovely pair of Clownfish went to a good friend of mine where they have been living happily. 3 years ago I got myself a new tank with 2 new Clownfish. Well now that friend has taken their tank down, and I would like to take my original clowns back and have them live with my 2 new clowns. Is this possible? Neither are a mated pair of Ocellaris and I hoping they will just all hang out together no problem. Let me know if they will be happy together, or if there will be just to much clowning around for it to work.

After further research it seems like a no. It's a 40G and the first pair are 5 years old the second 3 years old. Both have a large and small fish so I'm assuming a dominate and subordinate.

Yup, with that extra info I'd quite agree with your further research pointing to no ;)

I have one last question about the clownfish, can I add the subordinate only from group B into group A? Just curious if he would retain his order in the pack and be accepted.

Chances are the subordinate would be bully'ed to death. There is no such thing as the rule of threes when it comes to clowns. Then again you never know
