Ok, I know this won't win Tank of the Month, but I wanted to show off my tank a bit. This setup will be 4 years old on October 1st. There has been a FEW changes of the past 4 years, but I am pretty happy with how it has turned out...

the second set of pics is a little pixelated but still very nice, love the zoos.

I can't believe you kept the same tank for four years. That is the most amzing part of all. :)

very nice btw!

Yea, sorry about the picture quality! That's what happens when you take high resolution pics, and try to shrink them down to upload them into the photo gallery! I will have to load them onto another server, and then link to them from there.

For a smal tank it seems as if has been pretty stable. Have you had any major problems or crashes over the years?

No, I have never had any problems with this setup. I guess I learned my lessons from the previous 2 setups I had.

Beyond a fish or 2 jumping out, or a minor overflow, I haven't had any other problems. The only thing I can think of is my Xenia colonies will sometimes crash (maybe once every 9 months), but they always regrow in a few weeks.

Other than that...nope. I have made a few changes in livestock due to it outgrowing an area, or it didn't like where I put it originally, (or it was an impulse buy, and I didn't like it).

very nice, that would be a nice TOTM, also i see you like clams, are those maximas or croceas?

There are 3 Croceas in the tank. Two at the bottom center, and one at the top of the rockwork just off center. I have to check my records, but they have all been in there for over a year and a half. You can see they have grown a bit from the picture last year. :-)

Yea, I have a gravel bed, but I did something a little different than (it seems) from what everyone else does. I have an under gravel filter system, but I pipe the return water flow down the "uplift" tube, and the return water from the sump actually filters through the gravel bed as it re-enters the tank.

That is the reverse undergravel filter that Paul B, has been using for 30 years.

Look for the 30yr old tank thread.

It has worked for him for a LONG time.

I had one for a while way back when.

well thats one way to prevent detritus from developing under the sand! or gravel or CC whatever.....
