Fowler's Tang

I see you have some of these in stock. I'd be looking for one in the 3" range. It seems there's a good amount of variability in the coloring, so I was wondering if it'd be possible to see a picture.

I normally would not ask, but thought as it is an expensive fish it made sense!

Please let me know if this is possible. I certainly understand if it is not!

Thanks for the question. They do vary in color depending on the maturity of the fish. 3" fowleri tangs are going to be juveniles about 95% of the time. The smallest one I have ever seen with full adult coloration was about 4". That one was sold through Collector's Choice because it was such an anomaly. So, the 3" ones we have are going to be full juvis and have juvi coloration. There are 3 in stock about that size and they all look virtually identical. If you like, you can shoot an email over to customerservice@bluezooaquatics.com and request a picture of the ones in stock. I know they are pretty busy right now with a new batch of Picasso Clowns that are ready to be photographed but they might be able to squeeze you in. Hope that helps.

Hi, so I received my Fowleri tang, and he/she looks great. seems to really like the food you include in the package, as well as my Elos SVM pellets (looks to be a "meaty" based food as it is red in color), however he's not so interested in nori. I want to make sure he's getting the nutrition he needs, which I would assume includes a majority of greens. what were you feeding before you shipped, and what would you reccomend i use? Thanks.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear it is still eating and doing so well. Most juvi tangs, especially those in the Acanthurus genus are going to be more plantivoric than herbivoric. Believe me, the BZA Mix along with the Elos pellets will provide all the nutrition that fish needs for quite a while. You will see it begin to graze on the liverock as it matures. At that time you can offer it algae as part of its diet. Another algae to try which works really good for tangs is ogo. That is what we keep in the tanks with every tang we have here. Hope that helps.

excellent. thanks for the quick response.

one comment - i felt there should have been a bit more water in the shipping bag. i didn't test the ammonia level, but my guess is with the amount of waste in there it was pretty high. other than that, it's been a great experience, I will definitely purchase again.
