FOWLR clean up crew?

im setting up a fOWLR with a fuzzy dwarf lion, spotted puffer and a snowflake eel. would it be ok to use hermid crabs as a cleaner crew. iv seen alot of people ask about clean up crews on the FOWLR forum but have not seen any definative answersl. if this wouldnt work what would? any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 75 I had an snowflake,lionfish, and a dog face puffer.

I added a very large hermit crab (red) ( 2xglof ball size)

He can hold his own, in fact I think he would try to take food from the eel.
A bad heater got the lion and the puffer.

just added a porcupine back.

I do think the eel and the crab had it out one time as there was a leg on the bottom of the tank.
any thing smaller I don't think would make it.


I think he learned his lesson.

would it be safe to put a large brittle star in the tank with them too?

I would say no on the star. You can get the hermits at about any lfs. They are usually called white spotted hermit crabs. They are about the only invert you can put in a FOWLR. I would also try to get a big one if possible.
