FOWLR critters

I have a student, very poor and this whole aquarium/marine stuff is new to him. I told my students that whomever raised the most money from the fundraiser would get to pick w/e fish they wanted under $50. He went to all his middle school teachers, resource officers, and administrative assistants (basically he was always in trouble, and went to all the people he was involved with in his past). He raised by far the most money, and the people that bought from him never saw him be motivated for anything until now.

He wants this black and white butterfly which I know nothing about except what I have heard they are not reef safe. He's going in a 55-gallon tank for now (we're buying a little butterfly). What other fish might be good with him? Something I normally wouldn't get because of corals, but since this won't have any corals, I'd like to get another couple cool fish that are not reef safe.

I would say anything really...except the obvious like a Clown trigger, but anythhing that can be housed in a 55 gal tank. If it's going to be a FOWLR, you could get an angel like checkinhawk recommended, but you could also consider, Certain types of triggers, Lionfish (which would be really cool), certain types of wrasse, the list is quite large. Just be careful because some FOWLR critters will grow super fast due to their high protein diets. One specific fish i like, are Australian Harlequin Tusks. Awesome fish and pretty friendly.

I would avoid Lionfish and Triggers due to the students. Both of those fish families "could cause serious bodily harm" to the underschooled aquarist. What about dwarf angels??? Benf has a harlequin tusk for sale on this site.
