Fox face dying or faking?

I just got a fox face today and he was doing fine until tonight. I know they are good fakers but I'm not betting he will make it through the night. He got stuck by my overflow just laying there breathing heavily and is acting pretty close to death but all of a sudden will start swimming around like normal off and on.

My parameters are all fine; I think I may have messed up with acclimation of around 30 minutes, maybe that's too short for them. My wrasse is totally fine happy as can be. I didn't qt him because he's from the same tank as my wrasse and they didn't add any new livestock to that tank at my lfs.

I'm wondering if anyone has similar experience with them. He has been extremely skiddish although I know that's a trait they all share. Currently he's laying towards the bottom but still swimming and looking around. It's like you can tell he's all there in the head but his body is acting dead.

Mine's pretty skittish. Does he have somewhere he can hide? Mine sleeps all scrunched into the rocks and camo'd up. He also was super stressed after being caught in the store and tried to hide for 3 days. I enticed him out with garlic nori.

He has a ton of spaces to go. He seems to be acting it up all over the tank but there's no danger and it's lights out now. I'm wondering if hes trying to find a spot to sleep. I'm thinking this may just be how they are but it's freaking me out since I've never owned one before. He likes to stay under my hanging frag shelf.

The thing is that I saw him today with my Melanurus like best buddies he wouldn't even try to sting him when he got close and touched his spines.
He was eating some shrimp/ algae withing ten minutes too.

But a normal fish doesn't just get caught up by the overflow and just sit there. I had to poke him away with a straw.

Now hes posted up underneath my overhang. Starting to thing he's been clown'n me

Anyways heres a picture of my new Cali Tort :bounce1:

Glad to hear your fox face is doing alright! I had one in my old tank and he was very sociable. He even ate flake from my hand. Not the smartest thing to do but I never had an issue with him raising his fins. Nice tort btw!

Perfectly natural , I has a two bared rabbit fish for a while and thought the same thing . One of the coolest fish ever .

Hes being really active now. He definitely tricked me. I knew they were fakers but That was beyond what I thought they would do.
