Foxface changing color ?

My foxface that I bought this weekend is changing color from bright yellow to a black & grey color and hiding by the rock. It changes color back & forth in a matter of about 30 seconds. It seems to be healthy, constantly grazing on hair algae, just curious about the color changing. Thanks for any help.

They do that all the time, night time when you turn the lights off he will find a rock and try to hide himself by adapting shades of the rock.

No, no other fish are picking on him, he is the biggest fish in the tank. Good to know though I was freakin' out.

I agree it is normal. A bit stressed maybe because of the change of homes. It will be like that every time the lights come on as well.

I think it's cool that my foxface does that, changing colors. I would say it's the biggest fish in my tank, but it's the first one to be pushed around by the other fish.

My foxface is similar in markings to my butterfly. The fox face follows the butterfly around and also seems to "protect" it. The foxface is always hovering around the butterfly and if any of the other fish come near the butterfly, the foxface "spikes up".
