Foxface not eating.....

I purchased a one spot foxface last friday from a local reefer. Looked very fat and happy in his tank. (150) I brought him home and set him up in a 20 long as a qt tank and have not seen him eat once. Tried Nori, pellet food, celery leaves, hair algae from one of my other tanks. Nothing, have not seen him eat anything. Any ideas?

My one spot is really skiddish, even after a year ... sometime he have some panic attack for nothing then go hide for no reason.

Also, maybe he's scared of you. When I left for 4 days, a friend of mine came over to feed my fish, and my foxface would eat if my friend was standing by the tank. He had to go away for the foxface to come out and eat.

Did you let the nori like a whole day and he didn't touch it ? I would put some pellet and flake then go as far as i can but still be able to see the tank. Then I would check him

Hope it helps

What size tank is this fish going into. Your Foxface is just extremely stressed going from a large reef into a tiny and open(exposed) QT tank. Remember, your fish doesn't realize he's just in quarantine.

Foxface are one of those fish that can look downright freaked out when first introduced. In a few days they're coming up to shake your hand.

I just pray you have a sizeable tank ready for him, because if he's not eating soon I'd suggest you get him into the main system.

Ok, its been 9 days now. If he was not eating, would he be dead or at least looking thin and dying? Maybe he is eating enough, but I am not noticing it......

It took my onespot quite a while before he'd let me see him eat. I left him in QT with a very algae covered rock and some caulerpa. After a week I realized that he'd taken out half the hair algae and all the caulerpa without having been seen to actually eat. Sneeky little pig!

Update, started out eating nori. now eats ANYTHING I put in the tank. Nori, pellet food, mysis, herbivore cubes, etc. Will now eat out of my hand. guess he was on a diet.
