Foxface not eating

Hi All,

I have a Foxface for about 5 years, I bought him fully grown from another hobbyist so I have no idea how old he is.

He normally eats quite a bit but recently has almost stopped eating altogether. I feed flakes and pellets and he has been eating those things for years. The other fish are eating fine.

The foxface appears to be getting thinner but is still active.

Any suggestions?

I don't want to be an alarmist, but when healthy fish that have been in captivity stop eating, it's usually not a good sign.

But there are things to consider that may be added stress. Water quality is first and foremost. Also, have there been any changes recently? New fish, coral, new substrate or removal or existing, has the tank been moved, new additives, any medications, double check temperature with a different thermometer to check for heater and present thermometer failures, is everything up-to-date on your DI/RO make-up water, or if you get it from the lfs, is theirs, changed brands of salt for water changes, have you done a water change recently, was is smooth or did anything go wrong or lengthy, new lighting or hours that they run or anything at all that comes to mind?

If nothing comes to mind after running all of that through your head, then try to get him eating something. You could add some macro algae or clips of seaweed that he can eat as his leisure.

Just some thoughts that I hope can help.
